The Packing List by Adolf Konrad [http://www.matchbookmag.com/]

Preparing for the drive to Pawley's Island is an event that occurs every July. But why does it get harder and harder to pack each year?! I am a notorious over-packer; my sister teases me for bringing four to six bags (and that's packing light!) But my philosophy on car packing is that you have space, especially in a mini van! So, here is a taste of what's in my beach bags this year...
  1. Burlap Fresh Market bag (later to be used as a beach bag) contains magazines, books, sketchpads, cameras, iPod and portable speakers, guitar books and chord sheets, as well as style books to peruse as I please (check out The TeenVogue Handbook and Nina Garcia's The Little Black Book of Style)
  2. Duffel bag includes bathing suits (duh), light weight tunics, shorts, tee shirts, sun dresses, a maxi dress, flip flops, my new espadrilles (ee ee ee !!), pajamas, beach cover ups, a baseball hat, running shorts and sneakers and a widebrim sunhat (black...the ultimate sophistication)
  3. Laptop case (so I can blog on the go!)
  4. Guitar case (nothing like chords harmonizing with the steady crash of the waves)
  5. Makeup bag: daily moisturizer, nail polish in summer shades (corals, pinks, and reds), my jewlery pouch, sunscreen and aloe, minimalist makeup, Clinique lipstick in Black Honey, mini shampoos for the outdoor shower
