Lilly Pulitzer: a symbol of carefree frolicking in salty air, sandy waves, and summer sun. Lilly's signature flamboyantly colored shifts, skorts, and shorts were a brain child from her days of owning a juice stand in Palm Beach. The colorful juices stained her clothes so she created patterns that acted as a camoflauge.

I signed up to receive her catalogue a while ago and I regret to say that I have seriously coveted a number of her classic shifts in her brightly colored fabrics and signature whimsical patterns. Every TJ Maxx I go into I scope out the racks for anything Lilly. Luckily, here at the beach there is a Lilly boutique called The Joggling Board and I was fortuitous enough to snag this adorable baby doll dress at 25% off! Yes.

Now it wasn't until I got home that I looked closely at the pattern and was able to fully appreciate the genius of Lilly's (somewhat discrete) whimsy.
