Seniors Say Heyyy!

Sunday, August 7, 2011

The class of 2012 is about to embark on a set of traditions commonly referred to as SENIOR YEAR. As tomorrow marks the first day of school, I thought all of you might like a little inspiration on how to style the most important tradition of all: our Senior shirts! The Senior shirt is so named because it says SENIOR on the front it is the coveted status symbol of all upper classmen. As the tradition dictates, each Senior wears theirs on the first day of school and then later throughout the year on special occasions. The keywords here being each Senior. Now when it comes to fashion, there is nothing I like more than a challenge....When developing your personal style, I encourage you to step outside your comfort zone. Wear something a little crazy; break the rules; have fun! Anyone can throw on a tee shirt. Only YOU can wear it.

Tee Shirt: T&G AllSports \\ Collared Shirt: Old Navy \\  Shorts: Old Navy \\
Drivers: Liz Claiborne \\ Watch: Target

This week I am inspired by all things preppy and put together. When brainstorming unique additions/accessories for a plain white tee, I begin to form images of collars of all shapes and colors and sizes. Begin your year meaning business by pairing kitschy pieces with smart collars. Here I buttoned up my favorite gingham shirt under my Senior shirt and ignored the boundaries of mixing prints by slipping on leopard print drivers. Ready for homeroom!

 bag: Land's End

I went for a wildcard pairing option when I layered my Senior shirt over a Rugby collection dress. A colorful ribbon belt plays off the preppy theme and sneakers make maneuvering the hallways easy and efficient. PS: Always go for a monogram option; it helps you keep track of your belongings and its very preppy. Ready for third period!

Polo: Ralph Lauren \\ Denim: LA Idol \\ Shoes: Dr. Scholl's

Classic skinnies and espadrilles make a harmonious collaboration while a black collar peeking over the tee shirt adds character. Keep you accessories simple and your nail polish bold. Ready for buffet night at the local pizza joint after a long first day!
