The 1960's: forever immortalized as a growing of age era. The birth of mod, the fermentation of style, the legacy of icons like Jackie O and Twiggy, Kennedy's Great Society, the mad world of Madison Avenue and the creation of the ad man are the combined reasons I adore this time period. The 60's include such a unique blend of culture and politics and style: Americana identified itself as a powerful nation filled with powerful people. We sent a man to the moon. We campaigned for civil rights. We molded style icons.

This Friday I am looking forward to a Mad Men themed party for one of my best friend's 18th birthday. (Happy Birthday, Nate!) The invite specifically warned that denim would be frowned upon (finally, some acknowledgement of the art of dressing well!) and specified that we all dress in our best 1960's attire. This process has awakened my research skills and set me on a hunt through 1960's history for inspiration. I found quite a treasure trove, so I though I'd share it with you:
