Random Music Musings

Music tops my list of muses. Style is directly linked to one's soul, and since music is an overflowing of the soul, it seems to fit neatly into the puzzle that makes up personal style. I've always said that you can tell a lot about a person based off of their playlist. I remember last year someone asked me what my favorite song was and that question felt so personal I almost refused to answer. (Also I have over 1,000 favorite songs that change daily based on my mood, so I didn't want to overload the person, either...) Anyway, two music muses spoke to me recently and I'd like to inspire some of you to strike the band up, turn the radio louder, and harmonize style and music.

I had the privilege of meeting Andy Grammer last weekend when he opened for Colbie Caillat. I bought his CD (he signed it!) and got my picture taken with him. His voice has been bouncing around in my car this past week. His lyrics are so uplifting and just downright happy: "It's fine by me / if you never leave / we can lay like this forever / it's fine by me" and "Ladies / you are beautiful, you are beautiful / you don't even have to try" and of course, his most famous, "You gotta keep your head up / and you can let you hair down." All of his songs will lift you up and make your day instantly happier.

And it wouldn't be a random music musing if I didn't mention my favorite obsession singer. I found this article on the web about Taylor Swift's music nerd-ness and how she writes lyrics on her arm before every show. What a cool way to express your style!
