Let's Hear it For the Boys

Thursday, November 24, 2011

Despite the fact Georgia weather stubbornly refuses to drop past 70 degrees, it's already November, and while it should be in Georgia is getting colder out, and heating up inside by the hearth, the trend of chunky knits and boyish sweaters needs to be embraced.

Up until now, I've reserved the discussion of style to the girls, embracing feminine trends, etc. Of course I'm a huge voucher for androgynous style, or taking menswear and tailoring it for the girls, but for the first time I'd like to research a unisex style. Therefore, *drum roll please* delicious sweaters in bold, chunky, edgy, and mod shapes, colors and sizes.

Now if Logan Lerman isn't wonderful enough, Teen Vogue dressed him and model Laura Love in the style. I am an advocate for sit-on-the-sofa-reading-novels-by-the-fire wear, and this style fits the bill exactly. The key here, ladies and gentlemen, is proportion. If you're going chunky on top, keep the bottom slim and sophisticated: thickly knitted poncho-type sweater with skinny jeans or a pencil skirt and tights (see Emma Watson's combat boots involved in said style...the photo below is from a new movie she's in with Lerman called The Perks of Being a Wallflower)
