Picks for Spring, J. Crew Edition

Friday, February 24, 2012

 This week I happened to be in a J. Crew and I had some time on my hands. This is always dangerous. Like clockwork, I inevitably found myself drawn to almost every article of clothing on the shelves, and instead of leaving in a huff thinking I will never buy anything, I decided to have some fun and put together a few outfits! The Elements of Style I love about J. Crew are their vibrant, wearable colors, their attention to detail, and their adherence to classic, yet chic personal style. Their Spring clothes were all so happy and exciting; here's what I would wear, and where, if I had all the money in the world for Spring.

Tippi Sweater in leopard, Crinkle Chiffon Skirt in warm peacock , Nolita Jacket in Great Lakes wash
{Tea with Grandmother}
My Grandparents are moving to our town and I can't wait to scurry over to their new house and have afternoon tea with them and listen to Memere's (What we call her...she's French, so we use the French word for 'Grandmother') old Broadway records.

No. 2 Pencil Skirt in citron
{Class Act}
This versatile pencil skirt in a happy hue is perfect for bringing a little brightness into dull second semester classes. (How many days until graduation?) Also, I have this theory that polka-dots are the new stripes...

Faded Chambray Popover in cabo blue
{The Denim Spectrum}
After trying on this buttery soft denim shirt, I decided every fashionista needs an almost white denim shirt like this one. Its opportunities are endless: wear it denim on denim, with a skirt, over a dress, etc. etc.

Boy Shirt in Indian voile, 5" Chino Short in neon pink
{Picnic Party}
My favorite way to celebrate Spring is to put lemonade in mason jars, wrap cucumber sandwiches in wax paper bake gooey lemon squares, and head over to Picnic Park and eat and run around and lay out in the cool, bright, spring air. Don't be afraid to combine bright hues and accessorize with tortoise shell and silver.

Colorblock Stripe Boatneck Tee in navy kiwi, Denim Short in faded indigo

It's official: my family and I are California-bound for Spring Break! We are headed to San Fran and Napa for a week to be spent in the Cali sun. For the trip I'm packing cutoffs, striped shirts, old vintage tees, sundresses, strappy sandals, and my new straw hat from Target.

Dress in Ashbury Floral

{Big Girl Dress Up Clothes}
OK, I honestly don't know where I would wear this dress (it's silk...) but I am in love with it. I've decided that the bracelet-sleeve-length shift is my favorite style of dress: it's versatile, comfortable, and flattering.
