A Little Fall of Rain

Monday, April 1, 2013

I am a huge fan of rainy days. Rainy days mean the I can wear my wellies, stay in my pajamas most of the day all day, and watch movies. Rainy days make "the pavement shine like silver" and "all the lights look misty in the river." Rainy days give an instant, hauntingly Romantic feel to the day: they are eerie, they are cozy, they are oddly sparkly.

Last weekend, it didn't just rain, it poured. My roommate, Katie and I had quite an adventure navigating Athens to find a new church we wanted to go to for Palm Sunday and along the way found a little indie café with the absolute BEST bacon-egg-and-cheese biscuits and Arnold Palmers. We also decided to check off another freshman bucket list item: going to see a movie at the Student Center! We saw Les Mis...my second time and Katie's first. Such an appropriate movie for a rainy day: there are so many references to rain in the lyrics.

Personal style-wise, I try not to let rainy days get in the way of sartorial dressing, but being a college student, I have learned the value of dressing for the elements (of weather). Wellies are the perfect juxtaposition to a classic floral sundress, and the extra pop of color will brighten up both your outfit and your attitude. I chose a denim jacket to add a little hint of tomboy and my favorite accessory: a string of pearls.
